Voted #1 in the State – The 2018 Browns Point Salmon Bake is August 4th & 5th, 2018!
The Original Browns Point Salmon Bake is a summertime event which only takes place every two years. Fresh-caught Alaskan salmon is cooked over an alder wood fire pit in the same manner Jerry Meeker did at the first official salmon bake way back in 1946. It’s possibly one of the biggest draws to Browns Point, WA and this will be the 72nd year since the Original Salmon Bake began in Browns Point, making this the 37th Salmon Bake!
People from all over Washington Stage make the drive to Browns Point to enjoy an authentic salmon dinner, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones. Just about everyone in Tacoma, Dash Point, Browns Point, and Federal Way know about the Browns Point Salmon Bake. Now, it’s time to let Seattle and some of the other areas know. Guests will be making the drive from Oregon and California, and even some people have been heard to attend from as far as Georgia. Some of the other Salmon Bakes in the running are the Salmon Bake at Seattle’s Tillicum Village, along with the Allyn Days Salmon Bake & Geoduck Festival, along with the Federal Way Kiwanis Salmon Bake. Although the choices differ a bit, guests polled will say the Browns Point Salmon Bake is the winner due to their competitive food venues, in the style of Taste of Tacoma or the Bite of Seattle, along with their live music, wonderful Browns Point sunsets, and as that sun sets on Saturday evening, the temperatures cool down and the energetic beer garden heats up! The Browns Point Salmon Bake is the longest continually running salmon bake in Washington state, and they have perfected it.
Please keep in mind that there are no employees working this event, which makes Browns Point such a fabulous community to live. So many of the members of Browns Point will take this opportunity to unite and come together every couple years. The salmon is an absolute must! If salmon doesn’t suit your taste, there are burgers, clam chowder, and milk shakes, as well.
This is an event for the whole family with kids games, crafts, and an art show featuring local Northwest artists. Don’t miss the beautiful art inside the Browns Point Improvement Club (BPIC). There is no entry cost. Come on out and join us for a fun Northwest tradition. Open Noon to 8 pm both days. The Beer garden remains open late on Saturday Night.
